Magician's Code

Always remember that magic is only magic if people do not know how a trick works. Once a person knows how a trick works it stops being magic and becomes something that they can make fun of telling others how it is performed.

To ensure you get the best from your magic there is a simple but effective Magician's code. If you follow the code you will be able to amaze your friends and family without them ever knowing how a trick works.

Magician's Code

  • Remember magicians NEVER tell anyone how a trick is performed.
  • Always practice so that you can perform with skill and entertainment. It is a good idea to practice in front of a mirror so you can see what your audience will see.
  • The story is as important as the trick. Make sure you know the story for each trick you perform. It is important that when learning the story you speak the words aloud, this way you will hear your mistakes. It is also very important that you practice the trick with the story BEFORE you show it to someone else.
  • Always try to keep your audience in front of you and never at the side or behind.
  • The final rule is the MOST IMPORTANT. Never repeat a trick. Once you show someone a trick they often say do that again, this is because they have been baffled and entertained, but want you to repeat the trick to learn how it is done. If you repeat the trick and they learn how it is done then it is NOT MAGIC anymore. Good magicians always say I will show you another time, or show them another trick.
